This Vinyasa Flow for beginners (every one is welcome, of course!) is based on the Ashtanga Yoga and Hatha Yoga traditions, focuses on building strength, flexibility, balance and mental clarity. We will begin the class with a simple Pranayama breathing exercise, to bring awareness of the breath and clear our nostrils so we can be able to have a more smooth class. An emphasis is placed on self-care and linking of breath with movements. In this class we’ll begin to introduce new ideas and develop body parts and open up the spaces in our body so we can move according to our level of strength and flexibility for that day. No advanced skills are needed to participate in this class. Each class will have a slightly different focus in terms of the skills and body parts we are addressing. The main focus here is to develop awareness of your postures and different parts of your body so you can expand into new postures and variations, we will end the class with a gentle yin stretch so we can continue with our day feeling more loose and with a more relaxed mind and body.

Rosa Montiel was born and raised in her beloved Mexico and moved to the USA when she was 20 years old. She has made cities such San Francisco and Seattle her home, working as Operations Manager for the Hilton Hotels and has been traveling around the world teaching yoga since 2013. Her experience in yoga, pranayama, reiki, cooking and life is immense!

Over the years she has realized that yoga is more than the practice of asana and has discovered the benefits and powers of a consistent practice both on and off the mat. On several occasions she witnesses how yoga has guided her through both turbulent and joyous times of her life.
At age 51, her philosophy is very simple, Rosa believes that through yoga we have the opportunity to step out of our comfort zone and open our hearts, eliminate unnecessary suffering and be able to love more. Rosa teaches from a place of gratitude and joy, her classes are focus more on quality, no quantity on the movement/breath connection. She always invites students to create value for themselves, find their own path of self-discovery but without taking everything so seriously so they can enjoy the present moment. Rosa’s mantra is “life is about the journey and not the destination”.
She is very grateful to have the honor and privilege to have studied many different types of yoga with several amazing teachers in various parts of the world, this of course, includes all of her students. “Each class I lead there is always a moment when every student is leading me”.
