Working with the senses of touch and movement, we find the foundation for all the other senses. Exploring pathways from the floor to standing using the structural support of the primitive reflexes, we find the foundation for relating to self and others. This will continue into some foundational principles of contact improvisation – how to adjust the tone of the body to find ease and pathways in and out of contact to move more freely in space.
Katy is a Body-Mind CenteringÒ teacher and practitioner and a veteran of Contact Improvisation (CI) – she directs Touchdown Dance and worked in Aarhus for five years from 1988 to 1993. As a program director and dance movement psychotherapist, Katy delivers workshops in diverse contexts in CI festivals and will publish a second book this year on the work of Touchdown Dance.
