    Miles Ratledge, KPJAYI autoriseret lærer, vil tage en tur hele vejen igennem den første serie - fra de indledende solhilsner til de afsluttende stillinger i et friskt flow. Vi vil følge den korrekte vinyasa-metode som den undervises af Sharath og Saraswati på KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute i Mysore, Sydindien. Alle med tidligere erfaring kan deltage. Du behøver ikke at kunne hele serien, du kan bare tage en pause, når vi når til nogle stillinger, som du ikke kender. OBS !     Ashtanga Yoga – Mysore Practice, Presentation and Discussion What is the form of the Ashtanga yoga practice and what are its origins? What is the purpose of the ‘adjustments’ performed by the teacher? How can the practice change and improve? We do not often have the opportunity to talk about the yoga practice or to discuss the tradition that we are investing our time into. This event will give an opportunity to deepen your physical practice as well as your knowledge and understanding of the tradition and history of Ashtanga Yoga and the Mysore practice. Marie (the Ashtanga Yoga Shala Aarhus in-house Mysore teacher) and Alan, both trained yoga teachers and long-time Ashtanga Yoga practitioners, welcome you to an evening event of Mysore, food, talk and discussion. We will begin with a Mysore practice and after this some light food will be served in the kitchen area. Following this Alan will talk us through a presentation of the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system, its history and some of the controversies around the practice today. See below for details. 16-18 – Mysore Practice (Marie teaching and Alan assisting) 18-18.30 – Light dinner (soup and bread) 18.30-19.30 – Talk and discussion (Alan talk and Marie discussion facilitator) The event is for everyone. If you are new to the Mysore practice, come along and give it a try. It will be an informal evening with time to ask questions and discuss the practice that we cherish and love. Mysore: The Traditional Ashtanga Practice In this interactive talk, intended both for those with no experience of Ashtanga and for those who have been studying it for some time, Alan will introduce the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga system. The talk will explain the structure and character of Ashtanga and sketch some more controversial themes about its origins and relation to other forms. Alan will describe the different series of Ashtanga yoga and the characteristics of so-called ‘Mysore’ self-practice, as well as the rationale behind it and behind the firm and physical style of adjusting often used to teach the practice. The presentation will be illustrated with photos and video. Following the talk, we will have an open discussion of some of the subjects raised during the talk. The talk and discussion will be in English. He has been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for twenty years and trained as a teacher with Brian Cooper of Union Yoga. He has studied with many respected teachers, including Lino Miele, Richard Freeman, John Scott and Joey Miles and he visited Mysore in 2003 to study with the late Pattabhi Jois, the founder of the Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Marie Hallager Andersen has been teaching Ashtanga Yoga and Mysore since 2009 and was certified in 2011 from Independent Yoga Network in UK on the basis of a 4-year apprenticeship with respected and KPJAY authorised 2 Ashtanga Yoga teacher Joey Miles in Leeds. She has studied intensively with Richard Freeman, Danny Paradise, John Scott and Lucy Crawford. Marie has an MA in Creative Practice in dance from Laban Conservatoire in London and her yoga teaching and practice are informed by her training and work as a dance artist and her interests in somatic practices such as movement improvisation, Rolfing, Skinner Releasing etc. See Marie’s website at https://yogamarie.weebly.com. Med en sådan indstilling kan vi møde livet med et åbent hjerte og sind. Nøglen til åbenheden, den indre lykke og glæde, mener Maria, findes i åndedrættet. Udover at det er åndedrættet som tager os dybere ind i følelserne er det også vigtigt for den mentale træning, som Yoga samtidig indebærer.     Sunday 16 th December we will get together at the shala at 12.15 just after Maries mysore class to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

    Miles Ratledge, KPJAYI autoriseret lærer, vil tage en tur hele vejen igennem den første serie - fra de indledende solhilsner til de afsluttende stillinger i et friskt flow. Vi vil følge den korrekte vinyasa-metode som den undervises af Sharath og Saraswati på KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute i Mysore, Sydindien.
    Alle med tidligere erfaring kan deltage. Du behøver ikke at kunne hele serien, du kan bare tage en pause, når vi når til nogle stillinger, som du ikke kender.
    OBS ! Da fokus er flowet vil der ikke være en dybere instruktion til de enkelte stillinger, så holdet er ikke egnet til nybegyndere.

    Dear all. I am happy to announce that I will be the regular teacher in Mysore classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 27 november 2018. I am looking forward to supporting a community and creating consistency for all students.

    Here is a bit about me:
    I have been teaching Ashtanga Yoga and Mysore since 2009 and was certified from Independent Yoga Network in UK on the basis of a 4 year apprenticeship with estimated and KPJAY authorised 2 Ashtanga Yoga teacher Joey Miles in Leeds. I moved to Horsens (where I live) in 2017 after 15 years in the UK. I have a hands-on approach to yoga but a creative an academic background as a dance artist which influences how I teach. Bodies and people are different and the practice should reflect that.
    Everyone is welcome in my classes. Great if you know (some of) the Ashtanga Yoga sequence but if you don't come along anyway and learn the practice in the traditional way.
